However we talked to Jane and we didn't really know who our target audience or why we were relating wartime to marks and spencers now.
We have decided to change theme. We both love the drawing style of the carrot in the post below so we are wanting to find a theme that suit it.
I had done a lot of research on wartime but not on picnics.
I have found out that the word Picnic comes from France so I thought of a Picnic in Paris. I could draw a lot of building and objects and food to do with Paris and it would be easy to make a menu. We both thought that this was too obvious and a little over done so a "no" to that idea.
After more research we found that once the Victorians had heard about how the french eat outdoors they all decided to do, especially when they went hunting or to view the cherry blossoms.
We thought this could work quite well with the imagery but would be quite a challenge for steph to come up with interesting packaging which isnt a hamper as that is all they used.
Another thought was Retro
This involves a retro diner, food, people, objects. Both the imagery and packaging can be really interesting for us both.I could draw things like
- milkshake
- popcorn
- hotdogs
- pies
- condiment bottle
- retro car
Another idea is Afternoon Tea. This would involve a picnic stand that you would have to assemble and little illustrations to go on it to do with Afternoon tea:
- tea cup
- saucer
- buns
- cakes
- scones
We have a student led crit on monday and will will propose all these ideas and see what they think would work best.
