Board comments from crit

BRIEF 1
MAKE ME A MASK
My thoughts
Peers thoughts
 Make most of front board
move line and name up. More spaces for text to breath
no bigger than 12 point
delete the hair line rectangle

I didnt see the hair line until it was pointed out so its a good job we had a crit
I thought we were meant to have an impact page where it is just the logo on the from page so I do not think I will change the front board

Need to cut line length, break boards up into columns
One larger image than the others
smaller ones to the side to equal hierarchy

I agree about having one larger image and the rest smaller

good range of products

From looking at other peoples boards in the crit I have realised I am pretty bad at making boards. I am definitely going to re-do them all and think about my layout and type.

Tote bag (fail)

These tote bags would be sold on the website I made for "make me a mask" (but ones that worked)

I bought a tote bag and iron on paper

I printed my masks I made on to the Iron paper and was planning on making a double sided bag

I Ironed on the mask for around 10mins as I wanted to make sure it was fully stuck.
I realised I should have cut out the mask and then Ironed it on as you could see the glue from the white bit of paper.

I cut out my second mask and started ironing on the other side of the bag not realising that the heat would go threw
Unfortunately the glue from the other side of my bag printed messily on to my kitchen table and I got left with a bigger mess on the tote bag

I should have bought more bags so I could have done a trial and error.

These tote bags would be sold on the website I made for "make me a mask"

T-shirt designs for my mask that will be able to be bought on the website

Website

decided to make a website for the masks I drew so that people can buy them as prints, or have them printed on to something like a t-shirt or a mug.

Forgotten Mask

was just looking threw my folder and came across a mask I forgot about which is a shame as I spent quite a long time on this one and it is one of my favourites. Maybe I'll be able to use it for something else.

Colours

I spent quite a lot of time doing these an think they work really well. I tried doing it with some of the other masks. However I have used shading in most and it was difficult to change the colours and they all became very messy.

book fair photos

Unfortunately I have broken my camera an its the night before the book fair, luckily my brother let me use his and after % bad photos the battery ran out and he couldn't find the charger so this is the best photos I have.
Although you can not see the paper very well I am really pleased with the appearance of my covers.
Hopefully I will make an extra pack with better paper, and I will be able to photograph my work properly.

Although these photos aren't of best quality I think the mood of the masks works with the darkness of the photos, I had a fire on at the time and the light hit the brown paper well. I think they look quite creepy.

stickers to seel packet

At the moment I have printed off all my A3 masks on to card, I have yet to print off the instructions which I have now decided to do on A4 as it would cost me too much to print any bigger.
I have decided I am going to wrap up all the cards together in brown paper like a present.
I have designed some stickers to stick on the front and to seal the back of the paper

This is what they will look like.

expensive!!!!

Just went down to the print rooms and asked if i could print of 17 A3 pages 5 times each...turns out that this would cost me around £120. I'm afraid I dont have this much money to spare, even if I printed it in the print rooms on my own paper it would still cost around £45. So I have decided I am going to buy my own paper and print from the mac suits. I realised this isn't a problem anyways as all my work is in Black and white so it  shouldn't make a difference to the quality.

Instructions and characters

Ive spent a bit of time trying to be really imaginative and fun, making up characters and tasks for people to do when wearing the masks I have drawn,  I'm pretty embarrassed about what I've writen as some of it is extremely random. However it was my idea to have random task to do and funny characteristics. So hopefully people will enjoy what I ave written.

book fair

Book fair....What to put on the back of the masks.....
This is jut a draft, im going to ask a few friends to read the instructions and see if they can understand what to do and if it sounds interesting.

Welcome
If you are reading this, it means you are in processions of my wonderful masks….
To play the game you must be very careful to follow what I say… your mind will be the masks and not your own, so relax and forget all of your thoughts. The better you forget, the better your chance of  becoming yourself again

You may play on your own or with some friends…. here is how your adventure starts

What you need.
Masks (make sure you cut theses out)
Ribbon (to tie Masks to your face)
Story sheet about each Character
No Imagination
A good pair of shoes (you never know where the Masks will take you.)

Which Masks will be yours?

Place the masks around the room or area you are situated.
Make sure all the masks can see you, this is very important.
Each player must walk around in a cirles passing all the mask, if players want to show special skill (handstand, cartwheels, maybe even singing) this will be to their advantage. This is so the masks can examine whom they are best suited to.
The Story sheets will have been shuffled and placed in a pile face down.
After a minute, one by one in the order you find yourself, you will go and pick up a story sheet…The Mask has picked you and you will no longer be yourself.

By this time you will have forgotten your real self, you are now the Mask, you will read the information about yourself and become your character.
Each Masks has 10 tasks to do…
The tasks must be completed with some sort of evidence, which you must agree on.
The first one back… becomes the master of the mask.
The last one back… becomes owned by the mask.

Masks

2 to go

so far I have 8 masks and I am half way through drawing the 9th. I am going to make 10 masks in total.
After I have drawn my last mask I will start designing the books.
The books will be A3 and each page will be double sided. There will be the same mask twice in the book, one which will be perforated and be able to be taken out and worn and the other to stay in the book with information about the character and how the peson wearing the mask should act, I will also give them little tast to complete to do with the images on the masks.
I need to talk to someone about how I will bind the book. Maybe a Japanese bind.

The original Drawings

Realised I hadnt shown the original drawings, now you can see how I transformed them on photoshop.

afew more masks

Two more mask I have designed, I have done a forth but I am not in reach of a big scanner at the moment so will put the other mask up later.
I am really please with the skull, I really tried to make objects link together, like the tooth that turns in to a hand. It is the scariest one I've done, which I was wanting.
I really hated drawing the fox mask, there seems to be loads of wasted space and uninteresting objects....the actually drawing look a lot worse, but the way it turned out on photoshop isnt as bad so I am please I will be able to use it in my book.

All my masks are filled with random objects, apart from one of the rabbits mask, I'd like to do another one like this, and focus on patterns, however this might not fit in with the rest....does that matter? I dont know so I will ask this in my tutorial tomorrow.

using colour

I still keep thinking I need to experiment with colour more so I am going to play around with changing the colour and then I can decide if my masks look better in colour or black and white.
